You ARE having a good time, aren't you, Pedro?
a no-contest really
no real warning, just some rain and then ONE single gust,,
didnt even blow out the outdoor bbq of our fellow caravanners 100m away so She was pretty focused on the contest
I dont think any solar panels got damaged, all the awning extrusions are bent in some way though.

Bugger! ... That will be a real pain to fix up. For what its worth I usually roll the awning in at night if I don't have it securely roped to the ground and even then if I do and the weather looks even slightly dodgy I always unhook it and roll it up.
Cheers,
Terry

Had a similar event happen to our awning on the side of our Landy. A whirlywind lifted it up and threw it back over the top of the roof, bending the alloy telescopic tubes that brace it out from the side of the vehicle.
I was able to straighten the tubes by tapping a series of sockets down the inside, using progressively larger ones until I got one through that was only just under the internal diameter of the tube. Alternated this with gentle pressure on the tubes to bring them straight again. Was able to restore full function to the telescopic tubes in this way.
Now when ever we extend it we tie the ends back to points on the vehicle, effectively triangulating it and avoiding the need to hammer in pegs.

Arrggg, that sucks!
I do know how you feel, had a 4x4 awning blow up over the camper trailer...
Hope it doesn't dampen your holiday too much.
Damn... that's not good.
Where were you when it happened Pedro?
