    caravan crashes into traffic lights

    It seems that he forgot to set the securing chains.

    A disaster if people were on the sidewalk .

    It seems "jeep" is the new Pommie term for a 4WD. I've heard it on Brit TV dramas like Midsomer Murders, etc.

    It is used as such in many countries, over here softroaders are designated as such.

    Coming back from the Wyong Field Day in Feb, I saw a car coming the other way with the trailer swinging from side to side. It had come of the ball but the two chains were restraining it.

    Do you think it's actually the pommy term, or just marketing instructions to the script writers so they can sell the series to the US?

    I don't htink pommy 'vans have safety chains. They should have a break away brake cable that's clipped ot the towcar, so if the caravan becomes decoupled it will pull on the override brakes. I'm betting whoever hooked it on, lowered the 'van down onto the towball and forget to hook the rest up (ie: lock the coupling down, hook up the break-away cable and electrical connections).
