everything bar the brakes on the van and the gas stove went as predicted

the brakes worked till we got to the bottom end of sunshine motorway then no lights at the controller... seems there is no feedback from the magnets so i have to pull the hubs off and see what the go is

there was a distinct lack of pressure at the flame heads on the gas stove when all three were going so that needs looking at

leeloo has no problem pulling it up anyway so the lack of brakes wasnt an issue in any way .....

will put offroad magnets on it and make sure all the cabling is ok and see where we end up after that.

apart from that was a very uneventful trip.

leeloo sits on 90kph with it just fine. any faster than that and you can watch the gauge move in real time

I understand about indash vision I thought it was the weight of that big fat needle,, mind you my 3.5 was a 5 speed,, is LeeLoo injected??

I think its unlikely its in-hub,, much more likely a wiring thing,,

and do your homework on the off road magnets,,
get the ones you've got working first,, then wind them up when off road, then, when those magnets fail( and they dont fail ,, they just dont work as good/get tired),, then buy the others, ( can you say hiclone ),,

time will tell the tale when i get it up on blocks again

leeloo is an auto 1988 model so is a flapper injected 3.5

from what i have read so far the offroad magnets arent better at pulling you up, the centers don't flog out as quick

wont be buying anything till i check it out as there is no rush for now...

    thanks.

Poorly Performing Electric Brakes / P3 Tests - Caravaners Forum

    a few good tidbits here,,
    things like 6amps an axle,
2.7A at each magnet is enough for lockup,,

Though the P3 shows amps, I am thinking a max brake manouver to test them is a big call!!

    hmmmmmm

funny business going on with electric brakes

thought the old accutrak controller was playing up as connection light would be on after you hooked up and then vanish down the road

    not so

i fitted the new iq in it's place and it's fancier led setup tells me that it has a connection to towtent when i start out and down the road it has no connection.

    put meter on the wiring

no continuity at the caravan plug, bugger

checked wiring at the join for the left and right wiring and replace the joints with 3 way eccentric clamps as the joints looked a tad dodgy.

    meters up just fine

    go for a drive

    turn left brakes stop working

turn right brakes work till you use them and they vanish

can not see anything out of place so to me it has to be a magnet

one on passenger side looks worn way more than drivers side.

will spend $96 on a pair of matching magnets i think unless someone has a better idea wtf is going on...

    TIA

Do you have a dedicated earth from the trailer chassis through the trailer plug to the body of the RRC or to the battery? And dedicated Earths from the brake drums to the trailer chassis?
I reviewed the thread and AFAIR there is no mention of earths in it.
Probably one of the most important things to have right.

yea, Phillips right,, even though which way you wire the two wires when you connect the magnet doesnt matter, one side has to return to the battery,,

my last caravan light wiring fault was in the earth from the trailer plug to the caravan earth busbar I put in. So in less than 1 metre of earth cable run 20 years ago.

all the brake control circuit wiring is 6sq mm with earth to the battery on the rrc

the caravan has 5 sq mm cables on the brake circuit. both + & - go back to the trailer plug

Get a thin blade and open up the splits in the male prongs a bit.
