    Caravan Protection?

Anyone have experience with exterior paint sealant & interior fabric protection on a new caravan? The van we are looking at is dirt road ready but not a full offload version, but will be going down a lot of dirt roads. Special offers at the Perth Caravan & camping show at present, which ends Sunday, just not sure if the 4 figure cost is worth it!

The main thing to try and do is prevent the dust getting in there in the first place. We had a positive pressure system fitted to ours which is basically a bilge blower fitted internally and is switched on when on the dirt. Not had a fleck of dust ingress yet however haven't seen any serious powder yet 😮 just dirt roads.

Exterior wasn't too worried really ours is ally clad and already the sealants used around windows and edges is a nice shade of South Australian Flinders Ranges red...

Put a good cover on when you're not using it. Between myself and the previous owner, my van has always lived under a cover and after 10 years the exterior is still nice and glossy. Replaced the old cover last year with one bought on special from caravanland at the camping show. Adco was the brand and it is far better quality than what you can buy at super cheap et al

    Cheers

Thanks Jc, Ours will be ally clad so I guess Pilbara pink sealants are just the go. Even our white dog went that colour the last time we took him to Pardoo Station.

    Hi Steve,
Between use it will be in our shed so no need for a cover. It's just the few months on the road at a time I was concerned about. We did have a cover for our old Franklin before we had a shed, and it got beat to death within two years from the Easterlies. Thanks.

Ha ha gold! I have a story about a white poodle that became a black then a greay poodle after a misadventure in the tractor shed after maintenance day... 😅

Don't blame you Andy. We went the opening day & pre purchased tickets on line, so no queue going in.

Ive been looking online for 12 months or more, actually since last years show.
Ive deleted my home made camper trailer now Ive used it.Too hard to set up alone, too hard to climb the ladder in and out of bed with my stuffed back.Must admit once in there its a comfortable world. And its too big to set up fully in a caravan park bay.
Preference is an off-roadable pop top rather than the beheamoths. Will be looking to see what we really like then perhaps looking into hiring something similar.
Was there much fishing gear on special????

If your intention is to travel on a lot of dirt roads, I would be more concerned about the damage to the van or your vehicle rear window. Check out Stone stomper & similar web sites.
