Just another thought, you could pivot/hinge the mudguard and also the wheel ramp behind the trailer wheels so that as the deck slides forward the guard and ramp ride over the wheel. When in use you'd lock the guard down with pins.
Or you could use the radius arms idea on the wheel ramp/guard so that when Gav parked the vehicle on top of the trailer the guard and ramp are still supported.
