Well I just went out and affixed the number plate and VIN plate to the trailer so all nice and legal now.

Then I decided to go and move the trailer pkug on the ute from where it was attached to the number plate with a zip-tie (made it fairly difficult to get any leverage to unplug things) to the proper bracket on the towbar.

Sounds easy but in order to do this i had to take the wires out of the plug in order to feed the cable through the bracket thingy - wjile reassembling it I dropped one of the tiny little brass grub screws.

    In the grass 8O

And I can't even use a magnet to find it coz they aren;t magnetic.

I was planning to go out there with a torch later and see if i could find the reflection but its about to **** down raining so I think I can kiss it goodbye.

short of buying a brand new trailer plug assembly does anyone know whether those tiny little grub screws can be purchased anywhere ?

Oh and it was the red wire

    red, brake lights
brown, park/tail lights (On a round 7 pin, its the centre pin)
Assuming its wired up correctly, maybe tomorrow I should go and swap the grub screw from the blue terminal (there are no brakes fitted) to the red (I'd like it if people didn;t run up my arse while I wa towing). :?:

Quick, pull out another couple of grub screws and throw 'em down.

You haven't got much time, once they sense soft dirt, particularly wet dirt, they start to burrow, and then they're a bugger to find.

After that you have to wait until they sprout, then you'll be laughing, grub screws sprouting everywhere.

    What - and lose a couple more :?: :?

It's a bugger to find already (no success) let alone with wet dirt.

    they burrow....?
must be why they call them GRUB screws....... 8O

if you take the one from an unused wire you should be right....
when you find a dumped car next time you know what to collect off it....

have a look at some electrical connectors floating around in your shed....
the 240V type and see if the screws in them match the one you lost....

Yeah you've really gotta watch out for those one's, let them get loose and they'll give you a nasty bite.

The electricals all seem to work fine, including indicators EXCEPT when I apply the brakes, rather than the brake lights coming on both indicator lights come on, and stay on until brake is released !

Anyone have any idea how I might have miswired or screwed it up that would explain this ?

I took the trailer for a run down to Levuka for the LROC Brisbane Xmas party last weekend. All went well.

It does get very very hot inside the canvas on that trailer. There's a light rain at the moment and there is steam rising from the canvas - I can see it from my window.

Let me check when I get home. I suspect they may be BA thread. I have plenty of BA screws.

If it had been the tail/stop going out when the brakes were applied, I'd have said it was a bad earth in that lamp.

    Let me think about it.

Are they a combination lamp or separate lamps?
