Thread: Number 5 army trailer

Hi all just inducted. I have a question about the axle on my no.5 trailer, I need a wider axle but have no idea what to ask for when ordering. I wish to keep the hubs bearings etc as I have just replaced the very expensive bearings.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you legally cut the axle and insert a piece to make it the required width? Obvioulsy, it would need reinforcement over the weld.

The spring pads would need to be cut off and new ones welded on. All doable, I'm sure.
