Miltary Trailer - what do they look like

The missus will not let me buy an off road camper, nor a caravan, so I'm dreaming about making something myself. I like the idea of using something based upon the military trailers, the ones with a tubular tow bar. Does anone have any decent pictures or technical data on the old Sankey type leaf sprung units?

    Ian,

We did just this very thing. Numpty bought an old army LR trailer. The tub had holes in it and ended up at the tip. The chassis was good tho and he had the draw bar extended a bit, got the chassis galvanised, had an aluminium body made up and then we bought a camper top to go on it.

All up cost us about $4700

    Thanks Dave,

Just about any angle will do, but plenty of them. Once I understand the overall construction I can design upo and develop my own version.

    Many Thanks

I know of a tub (in Sydney area) that may be available if needed. The owner took the tub off the chassis to convert the chassis to a bike trailer.
