    Solar Panels

    Hi All
I am thinking about installing a solar panel to the camper thought I would put it on the roof for travelling and remove it and set it up on the ground when camped. What size panels do you use and how efficient are they we just need it to top up the battery.
    Regards
    Doug

Buy the bigest one your budget will allow for keeping in mind that you need to store it as well, if space is an issue you can buy two smaller one and hinge them together. Ideal size is 80W

I run a 65W unisolar panel (much larger than the modern BP 80W) mounted as a wind deflector for my roof rack, when I park the rig to the north it pretty much runs the fridge during daylight hours, maybe going backwards a bit.

Just keep in mind that you get no charge from the solar panel while you driving as the regulator reads the alternator voltage and does not allow charrge to go through so need to set it up on the roof, they do make good wind shields

Have a look in my gallery for pic of the setup
