I've been checking a few of these out, usually go for the $1000 -$1500 mark. Most are made in Vietnam/ China so not sure what the quality is like, i want one for my trailer that i'm rebuilding.

Aren't they made in Oz? See them quite a bit on 4WD TV.

I think the quality may be down a bit., I know I know you get what you pay for, but I try and look at all opitions

One of the sellers had a video on there ebay ad and when the guy was unzipping a window cover the zip sounded very light, almost like a zip on a cheap rain jacket, not the really chucky sound of a heavy duty tent zip...... does that make sence? Here the Link to there ad....see what you think http://cgi.ebay.com.au/12ft-off-road...QQcmdZViewItem

But Im guessing there are differance's between the tents on ebay.

The type I was first Looking at are going from $2,000-$2,500, but the same ones have a "buy it now" price of upto $3,500 .

One of the sellers is based in Ballarat (2 hr drive for us), so I might go visit some mates one weekend and have a look, might pay to take the camper to make sure it will fit up ok.......there is no why in hell Im paying out that kind of cash and there is a chance it wont fit or just crap.....

Andrew, i was quizzing a guy on Outer limits about tents and he bought an Oztrail 6 ft top for his trailer for less than $1500, he said the quality was good and was big enough for himself and wife and their 2 boys. Have a look at tentworld.com.au , the offroad 9 ft is only about $2500 or so.

    Camper 6

I have an OZ TRAIL Camper 6. Cost me 1250 bucks with the optional annex walls to enclose the awning into another room. It's a little ripper , just bolt it on to a standard 6x4 trailer and presto , instant camper trailer. Plenty big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids , quality is good too.

After talkin to the guys at "Dingo Campers" (they built my trailer yrs ago) we have decided to get the tent make up by our local guru.

They said that the imported tents are very weak, inc zips, velcro annexe joins and pvc flooring....there is even a note that comes with the tents saying "Dont expose tent to uv rays" Ive also been told be another sorce that the pvc floor will only last a year or so, so I think I will stick with our guy to do the job. That way if there is an issue I can get it fixed for no change ASAP etc

Oh by the way "Dingo" said they dont sell the tents by them selves, so it wasent just sales BS etc......but I did ask if they sell them anyway.....

the oz trails are good! i work on/with them every day of the week. (bolting em to trailers and selling them)

JameB; $1250 with the annexe walls is a bloody awesome price for the camper 6! where'd you score that one from?

the only problem with buying on ebay though is most of the camper tops out there nowa days (oz trail incl.) are return to place of purchase for any warranty work...

I've got a question regarding the Oztrail tents.
broonski you say the quality is ok. I think they are only 12oz and some of the big brands use 14-15oz. I might be in the market for one but will probably only use it like 5 times a year so I don't think it's worth spending big money. On the other side I don't want to waste my money either. It would be just used for the overnight stay with 2 little children. Also not sure about the 6ft and 9ft. It jumps up in price quite a bit. And there are 07-08 models now(blue) which are a few 100 dollars more expensive.
I would also get a trailer for the tent as I think bolting it to my trailer will take to long if I have to take it off at home all the time. I should be able to pick up a cheap 6x4 trailer but a 7x4 with high sides for the 9ft will be more difficult to get at a good price. And a boat has to go somewhere as well
