I have never had a wheel bearing fail so I cannot comment on the cheap ones

I only ever buy the quality type through bearing shops, cheap insurance against a bearing failure

Jeff, I read somebody's woes on here not long ago regarding cheapo bearings, which had lost the case hardening and were only a few thousand km old, or perhaps it was only hundreds.
So you do get what you pay for.

supercheap usually sell timken bearings as well. i use them and they have never let me down so far...

SUPERTHEIF aint always that cheap!

I was in a bind with boat trailer bearing shot and going away next morning so ducked up to Supercrap and got a set of their bearings. They are still in the trailer. I adjusted the nut up one turn the other day and drove from Sydney to Jindabyne and back on them and had the trailer wheels submerged a dozen or so times and they are still OK.

I do however, where posible use Timkin bearings in the boat and box trailer. Had Timkins in the box trailer for about 8 years and have done 000s of klms and still going strong

Ive used the ones from supercheap that are in the prepack packs but only ever in light applications (box trailers that are used as dog carriers/bike trailers) that wont see frequent or hard usage and not had a problem thus far... Wounldnt put em in kermit or big red tho.

I brought a pack of trailer bearings from Opal Trailers at Cleveland who make Kedron Caravans chassis so they know their stuff. Put them in the tool box of spares that my dad put together for the trailer and then noticed they were the same as the set he had brought from supercheap. Same price too

I think I'll get some Nachi bearings from the local ABC Bearings shop, shouldn't be much different in price. I use Nachi on my race bike and have never had a problem.,
