Roof tents
I am considering to purchasing a roof tent.
Any ideas and recommendations are welcome.
Budget conscious suggestions are the best
Preparing the vehicle cost a fortune and I am not like to expending to much in canvas.
Cheers

Our roof top tent was $3000 so I suppose that rules one of them out then.
There are cheaper ones but the ones I saw were either made cheaply out of lighter canvas or the frames were flimsy but I didnt look at eveything that was on the market at the time and there has been some that have come out since we bought ours.
Other than that, they are fantastic for if you are traveling everyday to new locations but a bit annoying if you are based in the same place but you want to go driving each day and you have to wait on the last day for it to dry the dew off it before it's packed up so if it isnt put up for a while it doesnt stink or rot out.
We do love ours though I am building a trailer for it to go on for when we want to stay at a base camp for a few days.

Thanks for your reply, I have a trailer based on the back of a single cab Mazda Bravo ute with a FG canopies, tool box at the fronts, two spares, etc. Is a beauty, but there are many places on the mountains in Oz that the trailer is not suitable and for this reason we started looking into a roof tent.
I was looking into the pages of many members of the Expedition portal forum and the roof tent is very popular.
Cheers
