New bigger caravan
Hi
Just changing my caravan and will probably need to get some mirrors which I am told a legal requirement for van over 15ft in WA.
I will have a camera on the back of the van so I will use that as essentially a rear view mirror but just need some input on what people would suggest for mirrors to use for a Disco 2 pulling a van which is 2345mm or 8ft wide.
The van is well within the towing specs for the disco regarding ball weight etc.
Should I be looking at at clipon mirrors on the existing mirrors or something attached to the door with magnetic clamps etc.
Any suggestions?
regards

Gday Harry we just use ORA mirrors that have the rubber straps that clamp around the cars mirrors, works just fine for us

I have been down and back on this towing mirror thing and i have traveled heaps and talked to alot of people with the sad fact that the best towing mirrors on the market (Aussie Tow Mirror)wont fit.The clip on mirrors are just fine except they dont allow you to see straight down the side of the van so you can see a rig behind you before they pull out to pass.I solved the prob by extending a convex clipon mirror by just 25 mm. Just cut the mirror arms and use alumium channel to extend and screw from both sides for stiffness, then i covered it with shrink tube so the job cant be seen.
works just a treat, but the first cut was hard as i somtimes stuff these sort of jobs up

Always loved my neigbbours F truck you could just pull on the mirror and extended it out, always had me thinking if you could extended the existing Disco mirrors ? not sure how they are joined in the middle though ! but if it was a easy join then it could be modified to suit ! Anyhow just an idea !
Matt.
