    HITCHMASTER DO35

I am considering upgrading the coupling of my trailer from the common 50mm ball to an off road coupling.
Vehicle Components have now the DO35 and I would like to know if any of the members have it on the trailer

Here is a vid showing the HITCHMASTER DO35 on a trailer in the cape.

    Arthur,
I have their AT35, and very happy with its construction, performance and simplicity. Special secondary safety lock on hitch pin is a leading feature of their couplings, looking at that DO35 it is a good looking evolution from the AT35.

    Go for it

Thank you for the input Justin, I am loading the trailer to over a ton and I am not happy with the ball system when off road.
I am planning to fit shocks as well to help the leaf springs on the coarrugated roads.
Next thing are the tyres, at the present time it have the 205 x16 on RR steel rims and i would like to go to 235 x 16 or try to use the original Defender reems and Pirelly tyres on it.
I hope that by moving the axel under the springs I would have room for the big tyres and then I can use the spares on the Defe or the trailer

    Arthur,

I would most definately do the shocks and uprate to 235/85/16 as per the 110. They are rated as a good light truck tyre and the taller sidewalls provide excellent cushioning for the rims etc.
