    12V water pumps

    Hi Guys.
    Looking at getting an automatic pressure pump for the camper trailer,water tank now fitted.
    Seems to be a varying offer on Ebay.Seems you choose pressure or flow out of similar units.
    Im thinking of getting something in the 40psi/17lpm area.Mainly to be used for a shower and kitchen sink.
    Others offer 5.5LPM @ 160PSI (surely a typo),2.6LPM@80psi,3.8LPM@40psi.
    Would appreciate any input from those who have these pumps on their CT/Caravan.

    on the cheap you can use a 12v bilge pump which is good for flow but not so much pressure

    a 12v EFI fuel pump will also do good duty as a water pump and will usually shift 8-10LPM at 30ish psi.

    pump

    Can't go past a sureflo pump. Auto pressure sensing.
    Cost a bit more but worth it.

    I had a Johnson Pump on my camper that pumped out 19.4L/m and sucked down 15amps/hr in the process. Cut out at 41psi and cut in at 25psi.
    I felt it was way to powerful for the camper kitchen. Was great to hose down the car when I got home to empty the tank though.
    I found that when using this pump it would cut in and out as even with the hose nozzle on full it would reach 41psi and cut out. Then cut back in and out constantly.

    I now have a Sureflow pump that does 3.8L/m using 4 amps with 41psi cut out. Much better to use for a kitchen pump and much smaller, lighter and easier to mount (same mounting feet and design but being smaller opens up your options).

    I didn't use either for a shower pump though. I have one of those drop in the bucket $15 shower units.

    We have a Shurflo 40psi unit on our camper, pretty good pump, it's been under the camper behind the left side wheel for over 5yrs now with only the mudflap to protect it and only had one issue, a loose wire

    It also runs a shower as well.

    i have a sure flow pump in the caravan and i would not go down that road again if you have them in the van they are very noisy and they chew up the power if you are running on battery's, what i woud do next time, at the tank on the line leading up to the sink first next to the tank a non return valve about $20 next to that a whale inline pump about $40 then run the hose up to an outlet over the sink, this does not have to be a tap i think you could make something out of a peice of half inch copper or stainless tube, from the whale pump run the elect to a water proof toggle switch about $8 fixed just above the sink so when you need water just flick the switch and when you have enough just flick the switch off the water wont run back into the tank because you have a non returne valve , you just have to get 12v power to the toggle switch
