Portable Air Conditioners In Camper Vans?

Hi all, has anyone had any experience with portable air conditioners? We are currently exploring the possibility of getting a 2.95Kw. Hotpoint for our Goldstream Storm camper Van, I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has a portable A/C in any type of van.

    9000 BTU 2.6KW

its effective enough to be worth having even when its just on the dehumidify setting. It pulls the section its in down about 10 Degrees (its better if your directly in the airflow) and drops the humidity to about 5% even in townsville humigity.

in real world terms it runs on a normal 240v plug and on a 6 way power board it doesnt trip out the safety on that even with 2 engles the car battery charger a laptop a light and a fan running.

biggest drawback is that every 8 hours or so you have to turn it off to drain the inbuilt water catcher.

The largest you can get for a 10 amp circuit is around 3.5kw,cooling capacity. You will need every bit of the 3.5kw on a hot day in a caravan.
It may do a reasonable job at night, but will struggle during the day.
