    C E M Flushing Oil & Cleanpower fuel treatment

Ok guys would like to get some thoughts on this CEM flushing oil and the cleanpower deso treatment who has used it and is it worth using its to go into my old mans tojo runing the 1HD-FT as we are trying to find why its lost power tomoro we will be going over the fuel system and replacing all filters and checking all hoses for leaks and we would like to hear some feed back on this CEM stuff before we give it a go

    Thanks in advance

Bloody wiz bang tojo deso engins

I've tried both - firstly, the cleanpower is a decent injector cleaner for the TDi - and it appears that it is a concentrated version of the Chemtech Diesel stuff. (I've used that too). I lean towards the CEM version a bit, as it seems a little better at reducing smoke.

Flushing oil concentrate: Well, after having recently replaced a head gasket and rings, I can say that using the FOC seems to keep the block and sump reasonably clean. But, I started out with a clean TDi engine to start with, so it's hard to say if it will help the jap diesel.
It appeared to me that the FOC was better at controlling soot levels at oil changes rather than shock treatment on a dirty engine. It won't cure excessive carbon buildup on the valves and behind the rings - but it seems to keep it from getting worse.

I know it's a bit pricey but it seems to get the job done.

    Cem

CEM is designed for Jap deisels. I have used it in my Yanmar tractor and it pulled a heap of grit out of the engine. I do use it during service intervals in the Isuzu but its only got 400 odd hours on it and it comes out clean every time.

Very good product and good service IMO

I'm always a little concerned with oil and fuel additives on how corrosive they can be.
Obviously most solvent based oil flushes reduce the lubricity of the oil, and fuel additives can be very corrosive to bearings with normal blow-by of the rings.
I have first hand knowledge of this with BP's Diesel-Go diesel treatment. Our oil analysis numbers spiked badly after using this in two engines, something I've never had happen with Redline diesel treatments.

With oil flushes I prefer an ester based flush, as it is a lubricant as well as a detergent, but these are really hard to come by in Oz and they don't have the immediate shock power of a strong solvent, which can be an advantage in a badly sludged engine as they take a few thousand km to do their job.

This is what i wanted to hear as oldman is worried the FOC will loosen up the crap inside the engin and cause more problems by spreading the loosend up crap through the whole oil system .....

The ester based flush you speak of how dose it work compaired to the FOC and where is it available from as this may be a beta option as dad is not sure weather to use this FOC his engin has only done 150k and he changes the oil every 5k with BP valenus and dose filter at the same time and every second service he dose the fuel filters

Wellwe give it a big dose of the chemtech deso treatment today and it seems to have made a good improvement tho we have ordered the CEM stuff to give the bugger a good dose also have found a good bit of info on tweeks for the boost compensator and off boost fuel adjustments so here goes

    Exclamation flushing engine

an old tech tech teacher told me once that all these flushing additives are a crock. all ive done since is drain the oil replace the sump plug and mix 50/50 oil and fuel run until at operational temp[at idle}drain and then repeat .dont be a tight ass and buy good qual oil

I just did my Isuzu the other day...did oil change 2 weeks ago and was digusted that the oil went black straight away.Last weekend added FOC ,ran for 30min at fast idle.Clean....oil is blackish but I can tell it's oil, not black treacle.Looking into the valve cover I see there is no sludge sitting there.Seems to work ok to me. Just strated to add cleanpower...see how that goes.
