The other side of that coin is that, these days, price is often no guarantee of quality. You may take the more expensive option only to find that the higher price is the brand mark-up rather than an increase in quality or reliability.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Take Land Rover for instance.

Mmm seems maybe the Chinese locker may do the same job?
Remains to be seen l spose !!!
Certain promo vids say the opposite, but not all lockers built are out of the same factory.
The research has already been done, and stacks up to date.
Is there a web site for these fellows? While I'd love an ARB, I can't afford one.

Just for everyones reference, i got a contact of mine in China to contact this crowd. They are NOT listed as a Chinese company and refuse to deal with Chinese nationals. So i decided to go through another company.

They do look the same, but they are an inferior product. The worst part in my opinion is that they are an illegal design copy of an Australian made, designed and produced item.
RIP more Australian Manufacturing and jobs.
I find this whole thing very interesting. I agree with you that's it's Aussie jobs that are on the line here. Still that they have taken the time to copy the ARB unit is pretty interesting.

Having said that I have ARB units in my car and hopefully won't be needing any more any time soon.

The crownwheel bolts couldnt handle the massive power (of the 300tdi) and let go
Actually i suspect something wasn't done properly when the 4.11's were set up.
When the bolts let go they damaged the flange and the spinning crownwheel damaged the rest of the housing.

Ouch, definately sounds like a fitting issue, i always prefer to torque and loctite the bolts just to make sure

    MMmmm the usual regular comments
I destroyed a Maxi Drive last year.
It ended up in 10 pieces.
I used my D1 over on Fraser Is with camp trailer, and over the new year with the CL, with no issues on hard terrain and step ups.
I agree that there is evidence of CL failing.
So noted that there are certainly issues with various CL, but not all are bad.
Some manufacturers in China actually make some great products.

The TV you purchased probably was made in China.
Along with 80% of everything most people buy on a daily basis.
It may not support Australian jobs directly, but when you looked at the price, you decided to purchase the product, and made your own decision as to whether it is good or bad.
Certainly most have given a Chinese product a go, due to price in average mind set circumstances and what the product has to offer.

It really comes down the the buyer of the product and making your own educated decision.
    Cheers Dave
