    Disco 1 Seat Springs

    Arvo All,
was driving the wife's disco the other day and maybe because she's only 60 kg and I'm 125kg, but I felt 1 seat spring go, followed by another and then a third and of course I sank further down each time. My question is does anyone know if and where you can buy replacement seat springs or do I have to get a new seat?
cheers and thanks in advance for any help/advice
    Dave

Springs are probably OK, but where they are attached on each side may be the problem - you can try re stitching the attachment points using wire or zip ties. The springs are like flat zig-zags, if it is them there are bound to be a few wrecks around for a replacement seat. Also, FYI left and right seats interchange OK - I am currently using the passenger seat as the driver's seat as it has less wear and better support. Not as easy to adjust the backrest but very serviceable.

They don't use springs, they use a rubber diaphragm and they fail.

I may have some pics of my Disco before I replaced the diaphragm. I shall look.

    Edit: Pic added.

I got a diaphragm out of another seat.

Note that this is a '95 model - earlier models may have had sprung seats, I just don't know.

I don't have MicroCat loaded on the PC at the moment to see if they are available as a spare part.

My first quick fix was using a selection of my ample pile of LR Mags and cramming them under the seat - a bit firm on the bum. Second fix was a long HD bungee looped around the two halves. Brilliant. Been like that for at least a year!!

Not sure if they are available as a new spare, the only place that makes that diaphragm (its called pulmaflex) is the original supplier, an old division of Pirelli Seating in Burton on Trent. Think the place has been sold off and moved to Poland.
I still know a few people there so I can ask... Group buy maybe??

I had a similar problem and like Ron I just got a decent diaphragm out of an old seat.

Some cars used a full piece diaphragm which is different in design to the Disco.

I suffered the same issue, and did a copy from the same pad with PVC canvas (like lumbar strip). I feel no difference with the original pulmaflex.

    Regards
