Hi all. Just a quesytion about the door locks . 1 (passenger front) door wont unlock with the fob or the dash button. All the others are fine .The only way it unlocks is if you use the inside handle twice.
My question is what is most likely to be the problem? Motor , Fuse ....
Has anyone else has the same problem?
Suggestions would be a great help ,Thanks
Your problem is the door latch (99.9%). I've got the same exact problem and have ordered the part from the UK and will be replacing it next weekend. (I think the part number is FQJ102890 - this is the front passeger door). Look at the following two web sites. BPUTAH (USA) or Brit-car (UK). They are far cheaper to purchase from overseas than anywhere in OZ (Brand New and Genuine).
I just recently purchased a window regulator, door latch, key & fob, plenum filter and various little clips etc (about $350 worth but roughly $600 in Australia - go figure, I'm helping the global financial recovering).
My advice from purchasing overseas is to make a good list of what you want first then contact them. They will give you a quote for P&H and then if you are happy with that then proceed with the purchase.
I have personally found it less frustrating to deal with the chaps in the UK via email for parts than any local LR Dealer especially the city branch. They just seem to be brain dead in comparision - now that's saying something. (If you email them at about 5 - 7 pm OZ time this appears to be a good time as I was getting replies within 10 - 20 minutes - City LR struggle to answer your questions and this is when you standing in front of them).
By the way the price for the door latch was ~$100. Best I got in Australia $174.90. (Key and fob $149 - OZ $230)
Also the good news is it's only getting cheaper with exhange rates.
Just completed the install. Took about 2.5 hours. The latch and regulator broke the same time in my car which is both good and bad. Bad because it's more money but good that both jobs are in the same door and closely related in terms of process.
Basically followed the three pages in the workshop manual. Took the entire window frame out including the glass and side mirror off.
Very easier when out of the door.
Whole process very easy and you don't require any assistance.
Need the skills for playing with lego and you are good to go.
Happy with the job as the part was purchased from the UK and save a packet.
If you look it up on Microcat or a website which sells them they call it a door latch. The part no is FQJ102890.
I also had the clicking sound.
100% percent sure the above part will solve your problems (99.9% but now that you said the clicking sound 100%).
Also with regards to replacement I went the full monty. Removed the door skin, window frame, side revision mirror, left the glass in the door. The latch is in a tough position due to the window frame so regardless you have to reposition the frame to get it out. There are five bolts which hold the window frame in - all have to be undone. One tip is make sure you either mark or make sure the window frame goes back into the same position otherwise you'll notice the window will work harder when travelling up or down and another issue potentially is some whistling when travelling due to the frame not sitting on the door seal as it did previously.
Look up the workshop manual for some guidance or I can email the relevant pages if you like (about 3).
Easy job to do and roughly 2 - 3 hours start to finish.
Regards
Andrew
