    What a bunch of champions

    With apologies to Willie Nelson

    I'm on the road again
Fit a drive shaft and I'm on the road again
Fit the bolts and I'm on the road again
Wrecking Land Rovers with my friends

Like an unreliable POS going down the highway
Waiting for the next frustration in green ovaling.....
    I'm on the road again

Thanks to Harry for lending me a spare drive shaft, which I didn't need
THanks for Dranged for putting me onto Gibbs Truck Repairs at Burleigh.
Great blokes all and great work.

Dropped my shagged shaft off at 14:30 yesterday.
Got a phone call at 09:30 this morning and $265 later - picked this up.

It seems too cheap for something that important---

    Hi FenianEel,
Just wondering if you had any warning before the joint went bang. eg vibration or anything.

    Cheers

    Warning?
    You mean, like.....
    a) chirping whistling sound (almost metallic watery) particularly under accelaration, though not present all the time
    b) vibration, not particularly bad, but noticeable
    c) sometimes kick back on accel/decelaration
    or
    d) all of the above

I'm embarrassed and honest enough to say it was d)

Kinda stupid and self explanatory now, but should've done a bit more investigating and spent the time to check it out.
I thought the slight chirp/whistle may have been something to do with the aircon at first (as it sounds like its coming from behind the dash)

    An ounce of prevention ....blah,blah,blah

Hey FenianEel, I only just read this thread and now feel kinda stooopid for asking (on another topic) how those little brass thingy's for your airbags went.

Glad you got that fixed in good time and at a good price.

I'll now get all my drivelines checked when I bring forward the next service (As you said, an ounce of prevention ..)

I didn't get any of the above warnings. All that happened to us was what sounded like a bomb going off under the Disco followed by the sounds of shrapnel striking the underbody and a slight wheel wobble (like a flat back tyre).

I got the chirpy sound and the vibration as mentioned on the other Front Drive Shaft post. Thanks again FenianEel for your description as it saved my shaft going bang.

    Cheers

    G'day Simon,

One cracked seems to be holding alright. Sent an email after we spoke to Lisa at Arnotts, haven't got a response. Got a few small 'bits' from Pirtek, not sure if they'll work yet.
