    D2a CD-Radio Security Code De-Code Visteon 6500 CD Europe

So, our D2a factory radio CD didn't work when we purchased the vehicle ... we knew that, and expected to replace the Radio CD. Looks like the previous owner has levered the front off the unit to try and retrieve a CD maybe ?? ... so the face clipped on (and falls off!) ... sort of (not meant to come off in the first place !!) but the units display didn't power up ... I put a CD into the slot, it took it in, but couldn't eject it.

I pulled the Radio CD out of the dash during the week (it didn't want to come out) and once it was out, I found I could properly re-position the face panel and clip it back into place ... except the tabs that hold the front to the body had been broken so it's only the two small multi-row pin sockets holding the face in place.

Then me thinks, may as well plug it back in ... probably won't work ... and "F" me, the bugger powered straight up with a "WAIT 2950" on the display, which counted down to "CODE----" ... so I get the security card out of the glovebox and punch in the code ... and the display goes "WAIT 2950" again and then proceeds to countdown to "CODE----" again ... ... the manual says, do THAT 12x and that's the end of the Radio CD ...

Date on the Radio CD is 1 year after the vehicles date of manufacture ... so it appears it been replaced under warranty and no one wrote down the new security code or serial no. on the little card ... smart, eh ??

So I seach this forum ... OK, I get the procedure ... ring the Land Rover Dealer who sold the car to the previous owner ... except it's a saturday, and they can't help me ... so knowing about internet decoding services, I started on Ebay OZ, and ended up on Ebay UK ... there's a seller with a decode service who appears to have been around for a long time out of the UK who's got a listing for a decode service for the Visteon 6500-CD EUROPE unit as fitted to the D2a Discovery ... so I purchase the service, pay by Paypal, email the required info, and in less than 4.5hrs (ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON !!) I get my security code back and it works !!

So, if anyone needs a radio/cd decode done, try DND Services Ltd in the UK ... Dave is the man ... www.dndservices.co.uk or www.instant-radio-codes.com or email dave@dndservices.co.uk

He may have the services listed on Ebay UK, or go direct to the websites listed ... use the decode drop down on the left side of the screen ... it cost me 5 British Pounds ($10.52AUD) via Ebay ... dearer going direct on his website.

Now to figure out how to permanently re-attached the face to the unit before fully re-installing it back in the dash .... ??? Liquid nails ?? Super Glue ?? Araldite ?? ... LOL

Well done. That has to be the cheapest Radio / CD repair that I have heard of for a long time.
