    Internal LED upgrade

Bought LED internal bulb set from China. Just installed, definitely much brighter, the puddle lights in the doors are awesome now.

They still get pretty hot though, I wonder how much energy they really save. They need to still have a reasonable resistance so they don't cause errors so I guess they will never run totally cool.

Only I complaint is that the set could have used 1 more bulb for the glovebox light but otherwise pretty happy. I think the set cost about $25

I picked up a set like this.

Less than $2 for 10. I dont have a code reader but no issues that I've noticed. You can get ones that say canbus compatible too, if you're concerned. I dont know how long they last but 2 packs will let you change all the lights with a few spare.

    Cheers

Those puddle lights look great, lot better than the standard globes.

Just realized there are also footwell lights, need about 3 more globes to completely cover the interior.

I did the same ages ago.

Only difference is, I changed the reading lights to red, so that at night, they don't ruin my night vision while driving. If I need a white light, I have the centre lights.

Oh, and the puddle lamps in the bottom of my doors project the Land Rover logo.

I am curious thou, as to why you are concerned about saving power? The internal lights time out, so even if you leave a door open, it wont drain the battery.

Because When I am camping we run a lot of stuff off the car, I have Traxide dual battery system but I run a fridge and LED lights under the awning and charge stuff in the car etc and the kids and missus are always opening the doors and the internal lights are always on. I just want to preserve the main battery as much as possible because when we are camped I don't necessarily run the car everyday.

One thing I've found is that the brighter whiter LED lights in our off road camper attract lots more bugs. The manufacturer has recently introduced dual lighting with choice between yellow and white LEDs.
