Re using series/defer/Rangie chassis's for a 101 project... Not the way to go! The 101 chassis is a flat ladder, the rest are stepped and swept. The straight chassis with its flat usable top in a 101 is part of a 101's character. Coils would be easy... Using 4 110/130 rear 7" coils and carriers to suit.. They'd have to be stepped into the chassis, and use the original springs cut in half and still attached to the front hangers... The colls would sit atop the axles as in a 110 etc. An 'A' frame would be needed on each axle but that's how I'd do it.... Still think the original springs are soft enough with weight in it or 1 rear leaf removed.

Just had a look at the pics on the Ebay advert.. Wonder what the go is with the headlights.. Don't look good stickin out! Its not the tidiest of vehicles. Clever bugger has uploaded a pic of his email address tho!! Never thought of doin that!

I recall there being a lot more pictures of that one the last time it was up for sale on eBay.
The suspension setup on the thing if frankly pretty scary looking, a selection of Range Rover mounting brackets attached to the original chassis and the radius arm mounts all braced together with angle.

The whitbread one that was on a few weeks back had it done a bit more convincingly on a scratch built chassis.

A coil sprung IIB FC type vehicle is quite a simple prospect in terms of building the appropriate framework on a 110 chassis and attaching the body.
I've done one myself and seen a few others do similar.

Those were my thoughts but thought I wouldn't say it!

Just saw this thread: Das I saw your post about a 110 chassis with a flat sub-frame added like the FC2A/B ?

Has anybody got the FC101 body in CAD or something similar like Sketchup?

The only swept part of a 110 chassis is after the rear axle so it would be easy to straighten that out so then its almost completely flat.
FC110 or FC130 would be pretty cool, i did see someone on one of the AULRO trips that had a slightly stretched 101 with a sort of extra cab arrangement.

The entire chassis is 'swept' hence the need to build the top frame to support the cab.

You'd need to do similar to build one on a Disco or 110 chassis, whilst the back end would need a fair bit of work to shorten it to suit the 101 rear overhang.

    All doable though.

You mean the 101's is swept ? Just looked at Lockey's cummins 101 build and his 110 chassis is flat from front crossmember to just before rear axle.

A 101 chassis is totally flat across the top face from front to back..

That would have been MudSkull. It was stretched by 20".
