I run a set of second hand Silverstone's the same that were supplied to the Malaysian Army. I will soon be looking to replace them as at least one of the tyres is at the end of its life.

I tell you what your lucky getting all those spare parts. A 101 will bleed your bank account if you need to replace parts that are unique to the model.

My truck is now home on my front lawn.

I bought it two weeks ago in Newcastle as a complete non runner.

Last weekend I managed to get the engine running and the clutch working. I moves on its own. Brakes are a lost cause at the moment but front brakes are locked half on - notg enough to stop it moving but enough to stop one power is reduced. I also removed (well I managed to get my younger brother to do it) the roof rack and the bull bar, spare etc to reduce weight for towing.

Towed the truck the 400km back to Canberra with morning. Tow vehicle was a Toyota Dyna 2 Tonne tray top. The trip went really well and wasn't all that slow.

The only excitement was when loading and unloading. When the front wheels go to the top of the ramp on the back of the trailer,I had this sinking feeling as the weight of the 101 was enough to lift the back of the Dyna about 3 feet off the ground and force the rear of the trailer onto the ground - sorry didn't get a pic of that. When backing off the trailer I tried to get a movie of it but I took my finger off the record button just as the back of the truck started to lift.

When it happened I was concerned the Dyna might not have been up to the task so I loaded a little more forward to ensure weight would stay on the rear wheels. All went well. So the 101 may weigh a little more at the front than I anticipated.

I have some time off from work in Feb/Mar so u can guess what I will be doing.

    Hi garrycol
The next time I vist Canberra in the 101 I will try and hook up.
Every year in the 101 usually in the first weekend in August I do a run to the bush between Oberon and Goulburn with a whole lot of other slow ex army trucks for the weekend and try and do some camping and if we are lucky snow driving.
It would be great to have another one along and it is a good run from canberra.
    PM me.
The fuel pump on a 101 is 12 volts regardless if the machine is 24 or 12 volt .
THe 24 volt machines work through a resistor.
The brakes are similar to a series 3 in the drum department.
I think front shoes are slightly wider that the rear........they can be interchanged in a emergency.
The master cylinder is special and a special quad ring is important and hard to find.
The booster is special but can be rebuilt........I do have some information on this.
    Have fun ....regards Ron

Maybe I need not have worried about hiring a tow truck and just used my Freelander anyway
