The guy from OPW told me that he has been selling a few sets of TRX-US tyres to OKA owners. Might be suitable for 101 but getting up there in price too.
He says they are proving to be a great outback / touring tyre

Most of those are too wide for a standard 101 rim. Once you go for a wider rim this opens up a good range of quality brand name tyres such as BFG.

Possibly cheaper than any of the 35.1250r16 options, and can run 8 inch rims.
In terms of wider rims, I've heard it suggested to put 101 centres into P38 steelies which are 8 inches wide, although you probably have other 16 inch steel wheel options over there?
[Edit] Bollocks! Link didn't work as well as I wanted. Search for 315/75 R 16 and it gives plenty of options though. [Edit]
Dave, I've heard it mentioned before apparently 101 centres are not very thick? Do not know if this is true
