just in case I need to put something that is 12v in the truck in an emergency to run off 24v. You could use one to run your pump if the original suppressor is broke.

They push out 30A and are cheap.

My electrics are a nightmare with a lot of the insulation breaking down on the wiring and corrosion in the terminals so expect ongoing electrical issues - but unlike Ron I can normally use the handbook to trace wiring issues.

Thanks for the suggestion Garry. I made one up for Anthony when he first bought his 101 back in the early 90's. To my knowledge he didn't use it. He didn't trust it as it cost me about $15 in parts at the time and a commercially available one was lots more. I'll make another up when I install the UHF.
I've done a little reading.
There are no voltage reducers (except the voltage stabiliser in the 12V system (559052) for the instruments).
The fuel pump (589322) and suppressor (PRC1254) are common for both 12V and 24V models. The fuel pump motor can tolerate 12-24V.
The coil comes in a 12V (GCL111) or a 24V (552765) version as do all the other electrical systems. Starter motor 12V (589816) 24V (589817). Gauge panel (next to the speedo) 12V (589508) 24V (589339).
Bottom line is, if you have a 12V 101, there is 12V at the fuel pump terminals, if you have a 24V 101, there is 24V at the fuel pump terminals.
Garry, I'd say a previous owner has partially converted your electrics to 12V. This would make some parts easier to source. (I have also bought a new multimeter. This one has a thermocouple.)

I now have my emergency fuel pump. It is a Goss 24V. The local auto parts stores tell me Goss only make 12V pumps which is not correct. If it doesn't fit on a Commodore, they can't be bothered getting it in. "What's it for" they said. "A Landrover" I said. "What sort of Commodore is that, mate?"
Well, this weekend I'll hook it up and get it moving again.

I had one of those days today.
Today was the day I was going to quickly install the external fuel pump. I didn't want to remove the tank. That meant draining and disconnecting the tank. If I did that, I'd might as well replace the original pump.
I wanted to install the external fuel pump near the fuel pickup end of the fuel tank. The area was too tight to get tools in so I removed the tank. Oh well, now I might as well replace the original pump.
With the tank removed, I'll give it a good clean and repaint it. I might even use some of that KBS Coatings fuel tank sealer. (Has anyone had any experience with this product?) The chassis behind the tank has lots of surface rust so I'll wire brush that, fisholene it and repaint. I'll install the external pump for when the internal pump fails at a most inconvenient time.

While the tank is out, I'll take it to a fuel tank fabricators to get a quote to fabricate one out of stainless. Would anyone else be interested or has anyone else done this before?

If you want to stop the rust forever then forget about Fishoilene and use Penetrol by Flood Paint Company instead.

I have just completed a 12 month outdoor trial with both products and several others using a control, and the bit of rusted steel coated with Penetrol still looks the same, whilst the others have significantly deteriorated!

I used to be a Fishoilene fan but my allegiance has now been taken by Penetrol - check out their website,

I have used the POR 15 tank sealer/liner and works exceptionally well. Can actually fill some decent sized as holes.

Is that two winches I see? Obviously you have one more than you need. I will volunteer to remove one of them for you :twisted:

But then I'd need to get the correct outriggers since the left hand side ones were replaced with ones to mirror the right and carry an additional fuel :mad:

Hi Stuee - you have me confused - the outriggers on both sides are basically the same (mirrors of each other) - the winch is bolted to the chassis not the outriggers.

If you removed to winch, in theory you could put a tank in with virtually no modification to the outriggers or chassis - fuel filler in the body might be an issue though.

Yes, I was very lucky getting the second one. I do like getting things in two's for some reason. Two Tracks. Two Mercs. I hope to get a couple of Perenties, preferably matched.
