Thread: Sitec's Truck......

Hi Simon - been chatting to a bloke called Case in the US who is building up a Mercedes 917, and he's just put up a post about his cab mods, so I thought I'd link it here:

I think that's the truck that was bought and shipped out of Europe.. It was a fire tender and had a box with roller shutter access either side originally.. Not sure why he's gone for the 917 tho.. The choice is huge for bigger trucks in LHD... And cheep too.. My prob was that I needed RHD.. It'll be an interesting build to follow though..

I'm in the throws of body planning.. Have a few rough sketches that I'll put up here once we settle on the plan. We both kinda like the idea of having a larger seating area up front with cab access... Queen sized bed across the rear with dog area underneath in the center and two lockers either side. One (RH) for workshop, and the other (LH) for outside cooking..

Been doing a few jobs on the truck today.. I put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on it last week, and the pressure was good. 50psi at idle cold. Quite a releif! Having got to know the guys at Whites Diesel in Adelaide, I purchased a new sender and some steering ball joint boots. The parts arrived a few days later and the sender is now in. Here's the results on a cold start up. Next is the steering boots, a few tiny holes in the exhaust system, a good clean underneath and then poss the first attempt at the pits....

I love Gumtree!! Just bought 10 Alloy Wheels for the truck.. Was going to go with steels, but these were not much more! Now for a little trip to Warrnambool!

Nope, you're counting right. Ten of them are alloy. Think he 'wheels and deals' in wheels!
