Cleaned up a mates river up in the Brindabellas over the weekend.. The mog came into its own pulling logs and trees out of the river.. Needless to say it keeps surprising me with what it can do..

I am pleased the truck performed well and it is good you report this back to the forum. That said, what you and your mate have done is not a good thing. Research over the past 20 years has shown that woody debris is a vital component for the healthy functioning of rivers. Large woody debris also helps to protect the beds and banks of streams from erosion. It is vital native fish habitat. You can find more info here: [ame]http://lwa.gov.au/files/products/river-landscapes/pf020259/pf020259.pdf[/ame].

Thanks for the info Karl, my mates property is involved in a fish restocking and breeding program, and he's a marine biologist so I guess you will have to ask him about your opinions. An issue they have with fallen trees is the erosion caused by the diversion of water around them, the build up of further debris and the damage to fences, bridges and other structures.
In hindsight I shouldn't have posted it on this forum as it seems a trend that if there is any hint or opinion on safety, perceived environmental damage or a lack of being politically correct, someone on here will pull you up on it.
