Thread: New 2019 Chev. Silverado

Over double the price here in Aust. My brother has one on order for delivery in May - about $140K on the road - great tow capacity but for its size low load capacity - about the same as a HiLux.

He has ordered it as his current 2015 Toyota Sahara TDV8 is having trouble towing his 22' Lotus Trooper van.

Not sure whether we're talking about the same "Silverado" here, but if it's the Walkinshaw converted Silverado, I have viewed the production line on a few occasions,..it's a MASSIVE conversion process, far more than just changing the steering from left to right. Ya'd probably find something on the web. I've been offered a drive, but declined,....too BIG for me. For one of the heavier specs, ya have to have a heavy vehicle driver's license! Holden Dealers have had to install new hoists in their service dept to service them.
But I will get a drive of the Camaro at the first available opportunity.

I love em, now. The older ones no. But we had use of one specced up for a light tanker, 900 litres water, 300litres foam and a CAFFS unit. Changed my opinion completely of them. We used it at motorsport events and were looking at buying it for work in mining as was perfect due to our height restrictions. Sadly procurement have caused us headaches and it looks like we may have missed the opportunity to get it.
Not sure on Garys only can tow same as a hilux, I am sure this one was rated to tow at least 7 tonne. 5.5 tonne on the one in the test story.
If the price was not so ridiculous out here I would likely buy one. Really time they did RH versions from the factory.

Now I really want one, just a shame they are made of unobtanium out here. If they could get them on the market out here for say $80k they would sell like hotcakes. $140 is just not feasable for me, sadly.

Silverado 3500HD LTZ:
Payload 2.2 tonnes.
Towing Capacity, 9 tonnes, with "Pintle Hook" (I don't know what that is!).
4500KG with a 70mm ball.

You need to re read my post - I indicated it had a great tow capacity - I never said it can only tow the same as a Hilux - what I said is that it has about the same load capacity as a Hilux not the same tow capacity.

Hilux is around 920/940kg in dual cab and the Silverado 2500 is 975kg with some as low as 875kg. The biggest 3500 model with the dual wheels is 2200kg.
