For sure they use a 18K gold wire on it!
We all know about the reasons for installing a headlight wiring upgrade and that drivesafe makes a great kit for this.
We all know that this also places a relay in the circuit so its friendly on the headlight switch of the Defender.
Well, sorry drivesafe, but here's another alternative that only draws 2.5A at the headlight.
Note: Make sure you are sitting comfortably before looking at the price.

Think I'll stick to drivesafe's kit.

Well it does save the cost of a relay
Yes, I don’t think I will terminate production of my headlight wiring kit just yet.
You’re a funny bugger, DM
Bloody hell, they would steal you wheels just to get your headlights

Actually, if the price was a tad better, they might be interesting.
It would want to be more than a tad cheaper though. I also would be concerned about the temperature of the light. I suspect they would be a very blue-white light (6000K) like most high intensity LED's (eg torches and icycle lights)

My Def is just about all LED but this takes it to a new level.
On the serious side it will be interesting to see how long it takes to come down. An HID high/low kit is about $A300 fleabay so will not be long I suspect.
Interesting site the LED compatable relay (four pin) is a good price from what I've seen in UK and not available in Australia.
It's probably still cheaper than a D3 Headlight!
The Hella Predator HIDs were about the same price, or even a bit more when I inquired some years ago. Obviously I didn't buy any, but the rep (who was prepared to do me a once off good deal because I pulled him out of a bog), assured me that they were very popular with the mining industry.
I suppose at that price the LED headlight is well priced for a mine or military (special ops) vehicle. In 2014 when the new Land Rover Defender is released with a diesel/electric hybrid powerplant option, to get it into the Californian market, as well as enhance silent operation for military applications, then I expect we'll see the LED headlight as standard fitment.*
*This notion of a diesel/electric powerplant is pure speculation, based on almost no evidence. So please don't get excited about it. There was a research project on the www a few years ago from a University in the UK that used a 300Tdi and replaced the flywheel and used a generator instead of a starter motor to start the car, generate power and drive the car in electric mode. It's seems to have disappeared from the web.
