Thread: TD5 Oil Cooler Leak

Hi there,
I just purchased a '99 Defender (119,000 kms) and straight away got served all the horror stories about all the things that go wrong with them!
The main one being the possible oil cooler leak in the water system.
Would you guys be able to tell me what the first symptoms to watch out for are? Do I wait for a white creamy deposit under the expansion vase cap, or a slight, slick oily feeling to the touch is enough to raise the alarm bells?
Is there a registry anywhere (if so, where?) where td5 owners record wether they have fixed that problem (and the oil pump bolt coming adrift one)?
