    02 Indicator Problem Intermittent

    Further to a recent post of mine.

    Does anyone know of a common problem with the British 02 Defender Flasher relays or terminal base mounted in behind the Instrument panel.

    The indicators stoped working last Sunday.

    When I found the relay and pushed it slightly sideways it worked.

    So I put a bit of hard foam in to hold it over. That moved a bit and so they stopped again last night.

    Pushed it sideways and they worked

    Could it be the terminal wire that is dodgy ?

    It has a tow pack fitted and a front bar with extra indicators.

    The trailer hitched indication light seems to flick on and off also

    My trailer indicator light always came on when i first got it... Richard KIE4 replaced the roo bar globes with 5w versions... that stopped that apart from when you first flick the indicators on. Its because it detects the current being drawn so with 21w ones in the front it thinks there is a trailer on...

    Not sure what could cause the issue... except a dodgy blinker unit.. with a broken joint etc... or a broken wire... or a bit of corrosion..

    I'm betting a little Verdigris in the socket...

    Remove the flasher and spray some CRC in there for starters.

    Then consider a small brush (dental type) and give each terminal socket a clean. Then respray CRC before installing the relay again.

    I thought it was German for very cold or " Vier degrees "

    or an Island of the Jersey Group

    a green or bluish patina formed on copper, brass, or bronze surfaces exposed to the atmosphere for long periods of time, consisting principally of basic copper sulfate.

    Also found between electrical joints!

    Thanks Tombie. Will squirt some CRC in this weekend and also check the relay base wiring
