Would you Bother changing Tyres/Rims on new 130 ?

At the end f the day who cares what name you give the rims ?

The only difference between the tube and tubeless version of the 6.5" 20.6mm offset Heavy Duty rim is the addition of the safety bead on the tubeless version, otherwise they are identical in construction, at least as far as my samples indicate.

Just out of curisousity what is the back space/offset of these wolf wheels, do they increase your wheel track? could be useful information to have when i try and get my offset rims engineered due to the 25mm wheel track(12.5mm a side) over standard fitted rims rule. oh and they do look good, to bad about the 6.5in wide thing, a set like that in 8in would be nice.

The offset is 20.6mm vs 33mm for Disco I and 110 rims, so track width is increased 1" over a Disco or 110 rim and backspace should be a neat 4" at that offset.

I have Black Wolf Rims purchased from Fred Smith Automotive in Melbourne. They were recommended by Fred and are tubeless. Also I have the new BFG Mud Terrains (KM2's) in 255 x 85 x 16. They are sensational and very quiet on the Bitumen. The tyres have given approx 1 inch lift (in ground clearance for the diffs) and corrected the speedo. I roll down hills a little faster in low range, but not enough to be annoying or dangerous. The rims are still only 6.5 inches wide (same as original rims with tubes) and from what I read this is the largest tyre you can place on these rims without being stupid. This does not take away from the looks of 130 (2001 Defender 130 Dual Cab).

What, price are the black WOLF rims and what are the white standard rims worth as a trade in usually ?

Assuming everything else is standard, a couple of questions if I could.

1. Tighter/better turning circle with the Black Wolfs or would that require adjustment to the stops?
2. RPM at 100kmh in 5th with the 255/85 R16's fitted.

The rims are aound $220 to $240 each (but I live in Adelaide, and have heard they are cheaperin the East).

My 07MY 130 now has 67,000 km and most of the driving has been on the highway with relatively light loads. The original Michelin tyres will be ready for replacement in about 5000 to 10,000 km so I am researching tyres. The Bridgestone D 694 LT is probably going to be my choice. Do members have any experience with these? What would be the normal size for the Defender 130?

235/85/16 is the nearest equivalent size to the 7.50/16 of the Michelin XZL's.

Sorry, have no idea on the 694 Bridgeys, haven't used any for many years and the last ones I used were MT 235/85's.

Reasonable for an MT but diabolical on wet bitumen, have been through two sets of BFG 255/85's since and now on a set of Maxxis 762's in 255/85 and both tyres are superior to the old Bridgetsone MT in grip.
