Mate, I just did that - kept the rears standard. If you need any boosting for heavy trailers I recommend polyairs - preserve your ride quality. Suggest you review posts by Derek (DM_Digital - used to be DM_TD5) - he has heaps of experience with this. I certainly recommend the spring change - KarKraft, very cost effective.

Just finished mine yesterday. Did the front springs (genuine LR 130 springs from Karcraft also) and then noticed the shocks were shot. That made me decide to do front and rear shocks, rear springs and damper.

I ended up going with Terrafirma shocks from Rovacraft at a very good price. If you're interested, ring the Victorian branch and ask for Stuart, and mention AULRO pricing.

I also did this, after trying after market springs I reverted to the Land Rover HD's in front and standard rears seems a good way to go. I as did Ranga, also fitted the Terrafirma shocks and steering damper and find them to be a good product.

I have finally got my TF shocks too looking forward to putting them on!

I still have to measure the droop at the front and i was also going to whip the bullbar off the front and weigh it as its a BIG ally bar so i could get a rough idea of the weight vs an ARB steely. Any idea what they weigh? and then any idea how much roughly a winch weighs?

will definitly replace the springs just not sure what with until i get the details...

Not sure of bar weight but winch is around 45-50kg, I would think all up would be 100-120 kg mark, then you have to consider weight of a 2nd battery if you are going to use one

If it helps, this month's 4WD Action magazine has a comparo of 13 major bullbars on market. Helpfully includes not only weight but the 'droop' experienced on fitment (minus winch and second battery).

Stats are all for a Hilux, but still useful. Note: RovaCraft tubular bar which I have is much lighter than ARB/TJM, plus winch choice and rope vs wire can make a huge difference - esp. rope over wire.

I agree with you on the RovaCraft bar, I just fitted one to my wifes 90 and the weight difference is huge. Also far better angle of attack than the ARB bar. If they made one for the SVX I think I would change mine.

Apologies if this is something you've looked at - I don't know in which way the SVX does not fit it) but a good fabricator like Mulgo can adapt almost anything.

What I like about Mulgo too is he zinc treats and powder coats his work, so it looks seamless and won't rust.

I have him adapting my RovaCraft bar to include a custom antenna mount, and mounts for fog lights. Am sure he can help - as could equivalent fabricators who do tubular bar work in other states.
