The advice is usually check @ 300,000km.

Plenty of them do Pat, there's been more than enough evidence on here.

I have checked quite a few over my time, and most problematic for some reason seem to be 1998 WA vin range vehicles. Possibly a manufacture issue? In fact the last 2 crank failures I have seen were in this VIN range. These were both broken through a journal. Got to be something in that.

I have had very little drama with earlier Tdi's, at least that has been my experience, draw from that what you will. I'm more worried about head gasket failures at 250K personally.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Hmmm, couldn't work out with mine if it was bearing overload or just overlay failure from crap bearings.

I'd plumped for overload failure, now you've given me reason to reconsider JC as mine fits that VIN range.
