Front Brake Pads - 2 types - or more?

I have 2 sets of front calipers (110 county). Both are the type that have the two very large split pins retaining the pads.

I needed some brake pads recently when in Kununurra, and the front pads which arrived via airmail were different - obviously for the type which has steel pins and small split pins retaining the pads.

Does anyone know when they changed?

also - what are the different piston sizes on 110 calipers?

OK, perhaps I should make things a bit clearer.

I have 2 sets of calipers which take this type of pad:

Now the parts books say these were only fitted up to 1986 (approx.). My 110 is an '87, but maybe since it was assembled in AU they used the older type for longer? Anyone else found this?

The later type looks like this:

I assume the piston size is the same between both?

					Hi Ben
I have several part no for brake pads. My army parts book says HYL8655. I have two pairs of spare pads which are identical in shape and are held in place by two pins. The pad with a wear sensor is AYG4249. The pad with no sensor is AYG4250. Pads with sensors are only fitted on one side. These pads look identical to the ones in the second pic.

My county parts book and a diagram showing pads with no retaining pins (only split pins and anti ratle springs) says part no RTC3348.

 Hope this helps.

					Ben,
You may have it the wrong way around, as i'm pretty sure my 85 County is fitted with the ones you have designated as the later type. Land Vehicle Spares supplied the new pads based on model and year, and they were the same as the pads I was replacing. I have long split pins that go through both sides and anti-rattle pins.
