Warne 9.5xp or m12000 winch for 130 dual cab Puma

What is the better choice here the m12000 is a lot heavier yet has not got as powerful motor as the 9500xp..... Does not make sense to me. Is my puma dual cab heavy enough that I need a 12000 ?

Will I need new front springs on my 130 puma with the arb bar and earne 9500 or 12000, if the 9.5 meant I did not need spring upgrade due to being 30kg lighter well that's the way you'd fly.....also looking at the tigerz12 with rope but would prefer to go for warne

I believe the 12000 has an extra set of planetry gears (3), and a 4.6hp motor.

The XP has 2 sets of planetry and a 6hp motor (probably one of the best 12v winch motors you can get off the shelf)

I dont think there is 30kg diffence between them both! maybe 5!

Having said that I'd get the XP, Or as a leftfield solution get a 8274-50 and upgrade it with the 6hp motor. (Its a straight swap)

Then you will have the best (at a reasonable budget) electric winch option out there.

Edited to add I have had and abused a lot of Warn Winches, including 2 XP's, a LR supplied XD9000i and an 8274-50. In the last 6 years I have only ever had 2 issues, one was a failed albright solenoid (which was an upgrade part anyway), and I had a bush failure in the gearbox of the xd9000i

I can't answer your questions pc3 but if you are prepared to replace the steel cable on either winch with a synthetic winch rope you will reduce the weight by about 30 kg, depending on the lengths of cable involved. There are also other advantages with a synthetic winch rope other than weight saving, but there are also disadvantages that need to be consided.

ALso consider the Warn 9.5 XDC.

If you ditch the wire for synth rope and replace the roller fairlead with an aluminium hause you will save a lot of weight. The 130 springs are (I'm pretty sure) the HD springs so I suspect you will be OK. On the 110 Puma I had to change the front over to HD springs as it dropped 15mm with ARB bar, XDC (with rope and alloy hause) and the standard springs.

OkOffroad.com is a good place to get the rope etc from.

    M12k or M9.5XDC

    Chaps,

Went to put the M12000 winch (bought at 4WD Show special) but was advised it would not fit the then standard ARB winch roo bar. Saved some dosh and put the XDC in it instead.

Not sure if the M12k would go on the 'new' style bar currently in the ARB shops.

Am happy with the XDC, as it now sits on the nuw Puma 90!!!

Found out the 9500xp is the biggest one that will go in my Bar, so thats what it will be if I take the plunge

I would seriously consider the XDC over the 9.5XP. I've had mine for two years and it is very good. It has the same sealed control box as the XP but also has a thermal cut out that the XP doesn't. Admittedly it is slower but not that it's an issue and it costs less.

Should also mention the XDC draws less current.
