Thread: Hi lift jack mounting options

The problem I see with it on the rear crossmember is it gets covered in dust & mud & what ever else get thrown up from the wheels which can't be good for the mechanism.
I put mine on the roof rack (only when I go 4wding). It's not that much extra weight up there, & unless I've rolled over it's always accessible.
A lot of people on here think they're a wast of time & money, but it has saved the day a few times for me, so I keep it.

Knocked up a simple hi-lift jack mount whereby the jack lies accross the floor of the rear footwell located on 2 stubs of half inch threaded rod and secured with wing nuts.

A part of me is thinking not to mount it at all and leave it at home! It's a good topic for debate on how useful/what uses they are. I'd like to learn how to use it for different situations other than just lifting, thus would like to work out where to possibly mount it.

Anyone else got any ideas?

if you go the cross member option ,,,,,,,,denso tape the mechanism ,,this will protect it from the elements a treat.also good for any other components u wish to extend the life of .

We have ours under the rear seat. Fits perfectly there and out of the way but easy to get to.

How have you secured yours?

It's a pretty snug fit between the supports for the seat so once its in it does'nt move.
Though it wouldnt be hard to lash it to the seat supports if needed.

Mine is on the floor infront of the back seat, held with Rhino Rack mounts bolted to the floor.....

Yeah its a beeeearch to get out when fully loaded, but i dont use it to change tires, i use the disco hydraulic one...

High lift is only used when things get serious... so before i use it, i make a cuppa, have a scone and plot my revenge for the problem ive got into.... then i get it out.... use it and find its damn easier to winch it out to a safer place then use a normal jack over the highlift.....

If i have to use it to put something under the wheels to drive out, then i'll winch it 1st......

Having it on the rear crossmember is a recipe for proplems.... dirt, damage and loosing departure angle....
