I'm going to be doing more severe offroading e.g rocky , rutted tracks .
Also the obvious number of passangers (D90 not great for wife and three kids). Also are you touring/camping. The later doesn't preclude a D90 but you need to be mindful you can't take the kitchen sink with you as you can not overflow into second row seats. However, the rear load space in both the D90 and D110 is nearly the same area with (if I recall correctly) the D90 slightly larger, though we are talking only a few centemetres.
Cheers

passenger space is not needed as it will only be me and the dog . I am after the more capable vehicle , i have not driven either offroad ! I currently have a ford ranger which i'm finding isn't capable enough. The guys i go with have swb patrol and a jeep wrangler .
As far as offroad ability goes, the 90 quite clearly wins, with better breakover and departure angles, and lighter weight (and better power/weight).
But the 90 is limited to two occupants where the 110 can carry from five to nine depending on model. And, although forty years ago short wheelbase four wheel drives were common, Australians have, since then, become accustomed to offroading with all modern conveniences, so that the extra space in lwb versions has become pretty much essential. Witness the problems Landrover Australia has had in selling a viable number of 90s. And a similar story for the other full size four wheel drives.

The 90 will be the go.
The shorter wheel base is good in tight spaces.
And they are cool.

Get the 90. If you really just want sheer ability for playing, and can justify a 90, you would most likely regret buying a 110.
And as One Iota mentions they are far cooler... and in all honesty that matters a lot
Shame your not in se qld as I could have taken you out for a spin in mine.
