Hi guys, looking for some help, I have a 1994 defender traytop and sadly the flooer mats are as brittle as an election promise. In most instances they are cracked and missing. I know there are replacements in the UK (frightfully expensive) but was worndering if there was anything local. I need floor, transmission hump and firewall. Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
David

Go in to Clark Rubber and buy a length of insertion rubber for the floor mats. The tunnel is a different matter (sorry!) and Rovacraft might be a good starting point.

When my original drivers side floor mat got holes in it, what I bought was a horse mat from Clark Rubber. About 6 feet X 4, quarter of an inch thick, with raised dimples on top side and grooves on bottom. Cost about $75 - probably a bit more now.
After cutting mats for front of Defender, still have four foot square piece -useful for other things as these mats - designed to be stomped on by horses should outlast several standard ones. Note I used the originals as patterns but cut new ones slightly larger and trimmed them to fit tightly which reduces the amount of dirt that works its way under the mats from around the edges.
Whatever you fit, make sure it can't slide up and interfere with the accelerator. Happened to me. Wasn't fun.

I bought some heavy rubber from Clark rubber and also used the old mats some chalk (to mark out) and a stanley knife with a fair few blades, I ayed it out on the drive (the reason for blades) the rubber has threads through it and is lasting well, it has a fair amount of weight in it and I put compresed foam under it to deaden the road noise coming through the floor.
Have a look at DLS in the UK for your tunnel mating they ship at really good prices Andy
Me too Flagg, interesting sensation isn't it?!! hahha NOT!
