    surely if its dense polyethylene then it could be tapped and a nob potentially screwed on?

    No, the PE will be knob shaped with a thin rubber outer layer. Don't know how thick overall as I managed to pull it off in one piece and can only see the end.

    The SVX gear nobs (main shifter and transfer case) certainly seem to be solid alloy. They feel solid and are cold to touch and they stay cold for a good while even with motor running or your hand on it. Indictaing that they are a solid item.

    I don’t know how they are attached, they don’t won’t to turn, although I haven’t forced the issue.
