Thread: Puma 40,000km service cost

So according to the manual its a 'C' service that neds to be done - which is also what was done at 40k.

But methinks there must be more to it than that? Seems like even my lowest quote for the 80k is 50% higher than most people's 40k serrvices (mine included) and that's from an independent LR specialist.

Can anyone point me to a reliable source for the service specs and intervals for a Puma?

Ha ha - scratch this question, just found the Australian service schedule and there's no mention of a 'C' service in it. Amusingly it only refers to 'A' and 'B' services (plus some arduous duty guff) whereas my service manual documentation only makes mention o 'B' and 'C' services.

Bloody Land Rover, couldn't organise a two seat outhouse...

Can anyone clarify what all this crap really means?

My 40k service on my 130 puma came in at $1395. It had the full bearing repack at about $520 but I did have the option of not doing it, but it fell into the severe/arduous service so I decided to get it done due to the nature of my work and what the vehicle does on a daily basis...still pricey though..

I had a major service done on my td5 ( i know we're talking pumas here but). Full service, all oils, filters, flushed radiator, cleaned radiator & intercooler, cleaned out snorkle and airbox, replaced front cvs & axles with good second hand ones, as I want to put hd stuff in sometime soon, front rotors & pads, trailing arm and control arm bushes, transfer case seal and few other odds & ends and that set me back $2300.

How can they charge that rediculous amount of money for 45k service?
I'd hate to see what a major is going to cost.

Well, I resolved my issue re servicing the wheel bearings - HD axles and oil lube coversion to the rescue!

FYI $900 for the basic 80k service.

I have to put the Tardis into Southport for it's first service (13000km) next Tuesday, Sounds like I might have to load up the credit card before I pick it up!. It will be interesting to see the bill as I just had a new Ranger serviced a few weeks ago and it only came to $380.00.

I got a reply email from land rover customer care stating that any one can carry out servicing as long as schedules are adhered to and genuine parts used. They also wrote " but if it is not serviced by the network it will not be eligible for any form of good will" what ever that means.
