Thread: Height of Puma with roof rack.

As far as I am aware both the Puma 90 and 110 Station Wagons with standard 235 tyres are officially 2020 mm high. And this is consistent with what I get when I put a tape to my D90. I measure the height to the gutter in which your rack will sit as 1800 mm. Why not ask the dealer or send LRA an email.

We're expecting a baby and the hospital carpark is limited to 2.1 metres so I just removed our roof rack from our Puma. I measure it as being less than 2.1 now even though the owner's manual specs indicate the height is more than 2100 (go figure?). We had an expedition type rack and I measured 2.1 up to just over the base. If you got a rack that was only the base (with no sides on it that increase the height) you would probably be right to garage it under 2.15m. But you might have problems with an expedition style rack.

The table is large for a camping table and high quality. I consider the table one of the best camping purchases I have made. The higher legs of course make the rack higher. A final consideration is that if the vehicle only just fits into the garage with the rack on, it means you have to have to completely unloaded every time you put it in the garage. Some times it may be nice to leave some gear on it until it is more convenient to unload, or to load it over several days prior to a trip. I permanently carry a shovel on my rack, for example. Opposite Lock advertise WindCheetah racks under the name RackMaster (or used to). They are excellent racks being both strong and light. Here is a picture of mine showing the table in place:

I have the same rack and table as Karl and I share his sentiments completely. The rack is extremely versatile with a large catalogue of accessories that bolt straight into the channel (top side or under side) of any of the rails; a very clever design. I also can't agree more about the table; I use it much more then I thought I would. The convenience of always having it there and it never being in the way is hard to appreciate unless you have one.
I bought this rack mainly so I could fit in car parks and find most are fine. If I have my cb ariel on I can judge whether I'll fit in car parks because I have red electrical tape attached to the ariel which represents the height of the car and rack. Works a treat.

Can't help you with the height measurement though as I carry a bit of weight and my car sits lower than most. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I'm not too worried if I have to unload the car in the driveway as I am looking to set this up as a tourer and it won't be a daily driver.

At the moment the only roof racks I have used are sports racks and I cart bicycles on the roof so I always have to load and unload in the driveway anyway.

Sure is. When I bought the vehicle is was Rimni Red, buy elsewhere, or wait 4 months. I am in Canaberra and the local dealer was making me a good offer and I think it is always a good idea to buy where you will get it serviced, and I didn't want to wait, so I took it. I don't regret it. Colour can be hard to judge. Here is another image and view of the rack:
