130 and 2 spares in tub

    Hey folks,

Need to carry two spares, have decided against other options (bonnet/roof). Was recommended to move both spares forward in the tub, standing vertically above the wheel arches - resting against the front of the tub.

Has anyone seen this done? just interested in how to mount them securely (seeing as the bolt holes will be about 4-6 inches above the edge of the tub)

Possibly looking at getting a foot long bit of steel, welding a nut to the top, and fixing with 4 bolts to the side of the tub.

    thanks

I was going to fit two spares against the headboard.A bar across with bolts welded to it will do. Pat

Unfortunately unless using small tyres, don't think two will go across the back of a 130 tub

Correct bondy I had my spare on the cab end of the tub takes over half the space....What about going with two of the vertical bars land rover supplied(1) for the tub and reposition the fill hole (****ing around a go-go but do-able just.)
remove the triangulated section in the tub maybe replace with a snugger half ali tube section if you get me ???

Oh that 130 with the twin tyres at rear is NASTY !

Single swing away looks much more "classic land rover".
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

^kinda makes accessing the tub a bit more impractical

Have decided to manufacture up two triangular shaped brackets, to fit to the tub sides and extend up to bolt the wheels too.

Will probably get them galvanized, still working out dimensions (Don't have tyres to go on the wheels yet)

I'd be really worried how much load is cantilevered off the back chassis crossmember with a twin tyre setup as in that pic.

Anyone with a 130 Hicap knows how much overhang is from the tailgate/tub to the chassis.
