    Discovery spring isolators

    Discovery spring isolators
    Do they fit a Defender?
Has anybody fitted these to a defender and did they make any difference to the ride as in smoother.
Could they be a cheap way to make a small improvement?

    Cheers,
    Paul.

Will fit the front, not the rear (larger diameter rear springs, unless it is a 90).

Thought I would update this old thread.
On the weekend I replaced the HD Lovells 2" lift front springs with Kings intermediate 2" lift fronts and at the time I fitted the Discovery spring isolators.

There has always (seems always) been harshness from the engine at higher revs especially under load which I had just accepted as a td5 thing.
Checked cylinder balance and sensor inputs etc. and all was good so just had to accept it.
I should also note that I have a VNT, remap, bigger intercooler, modified intake etc.

Anyway to cut a long story short the harshness has virtually disappeared and the vehicle is much more pleasurable to drive also quieter in the cabin.
In normal driving I had found myself short shifting in response to the harshness when now I can happily push the revs through a bit more on changes.

So whether it was the isolators or the softer coils or more likely a combination of both I can't say but I am certainly surprised and very pleased with the result

I am now going to put the isolators on the bottom of the front springs as well, may be overkill but the result will be interesting.
I also found spring isolators for the larger rear springs which I am going to fit as well.

I will update the thread when I have the results.

One very happy chappy, pretty cheap for a quite noticeable improvement.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Thanks Pat,
the rear spring isolators I found are these.
Some sort of high density rubber with a slit that slips over the end loop.

I have read that they are a factory fit on later model Defenders.
Do you know if they are fitted to your rears?

    Cheers,
    Paul.
