I don't have Rhino bars.

However I've measured the distance from gutter to roof top on mine (at the back door) :

From the gutter to the top of the slight rib (5mm) in the roof the dimension is 185 mm.

My ribbed roof measures approximately the same (190mm) from gutter to skin top, the ribs are 20mm plus one thickness of Al.
Rhino legs for all Land Rovers/Defenders are advertised as being 210mm tall. According to the box mine came in there is a 280mm tall option. So anyone with a Series or County with outside ribbed roof will need the taller legs.

EDIT: Just measured a Series hardtop and it matches the County roof dimensions.

I was under the impression that the skin remained the same. That said, I would have thought that 2 or 3 mm clearance on the Rhino crossbars was perfect in some respects (you want them as low as possible for stability reasons) but that close makes it hard to lash things to them. Maybe use tape rather than rope, or invest in some of their lashing rings.

If you have just got them, take them back and get the next hight legs. The Rhino website says 210 mm legs. That was the height of the ones I had on my county and they just cleared the ribs.

I do like the look of the close profile of the bars, would be perfect if using a platform or basket. However I'm trying to mount a roof top tent to the bars and there isn't enough clearance for the tent mounting system, the metal plate in the photo above needs to go between rib and bar and just won't clear
I've had the bars since October and only just got around to fitting them

Don't get the 280mm legs as they will tower over the roof.
You can buy spacers from Rhino that go between the leg and the bar that increase the height of the bar by 10mm. They would be ideal for this situation.

Something is very wrong there.

I have Rhino bars on the 130CC and there is miles of clearance (ok, I went and measured and it's 30mm) between the roof skin and back bar.

If there wasn't, how do you hook a tie down around or even into the bar ?

I'm glad mine are the height they are as I'm strapping ladders and stuff on top daily.

Are the CC roofs different to a Defender 110/90 too ?

I assumed they were the same just shorter ?
