In all honesty, unless you can be absoloutely certain of the contents of them and the history and condition, personally I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole

I agree with Pete to some extent, however if you pull an axle and inspect the splines very carefully, that should give you an indication of the life of the axles (and the locker if they are originals).

Were they bought new or second hand by the current owner???

There are a few people who have managed to break hemispheres. And early axles were made from EN25, rather than AMS6418/hytuff. You can usually tell these as they have a different drive flange. These axles were not as strong.

I have seen quite a few MD lockers in good condition sell for ~$1000 per axle. If anything the price should be coming down now, as there is no guarantee of spare dogs or hemispheres, as MR auto doesn't seem to be sure if it will start up production again.

I thought you already bought an ARB rear? I think you will eventually regret having a rover diff in the rear.

No but they will have some MD lockers available soon - possibly a limited number but they'll be available from what I gather.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

How many years have people been saying that for???

Last I heard, they sold off all the NOS lockers they could get their hands on, and they are thinking about (or have started?) making sals lockers (much easier to manufacture than rover lockers).

I have my doubts that they will ever get around to making rover lockers. The market is slowly shrinking as people upgrade to vehicles with ETC, and or buy cheap lockers ex-US.
