I watched an EB Falcon central locking going bananas 15 years ago. Dodgy electronics aren't news. Just persevere until the dealer fixes it. Or drive with the window open.

Had to read this thread twice
Since when have defenders had things like FOB and central locking.
Any way I have sent the last hour slamming the county doors trying to get them to lock. No luck. It would be nice to be able to lock her up rather than leaving it in low range and wiring up the phosphorus grenade to the seat adjuster
Thanks team for your comments.
Unfortunately my new? Defender is a 2006 110. I have just purchased it and will be driving it home to Perth from Darwin later this month.
I think the best advise is leave a window open when away from the vehicle but it is still in view. When home I will have it checked out.
With changing the batteries in the FOB, the manual describes a complicated process, can I take the FOB to a watch maker and have them install the batteries without the need to go through the lengthy process described?
Mentioned in another thread - why not remove the fob from keyring and lock car using the key?
Pretty sure all these problems are because we are using the fob.
.
seems Ford are still working out how to lock, unlock and start a car.

Sounds like I might need to carry a piece of spark plug in case of emergency entry.
Now I know some think that this is a ridiculous hypothesis however windy day on beach equals static electricity, fuelling a vehicle creates lots of static. There might be an issue with static interference effecting the electronics in your controller.
This is only an hypothesis.
Ordinarily I don’t belief in this mumbo jumbo, but if XSiV’s hypothesis is correct, is this the solution?
Antistatic strap for cars - STOP static shocks! Stop Static Electricity in your vehicle!
it seems it is a cure all!
check out this testimonial from their website:
Very impressive. You don't even need to eat anymore. ROFLQuote:
"For years I have experienced extreme fatigue and falling asleep when driving
- even on a short one hour trip. So, to have experienced such immediate and dramatic results since using your Mizter anti static strap deserves recognition.
The difference in my mental alertness during a 10-hour drive (in the evening hour) and resulting energy after this long drive was impressive. I did not have to stop to rest, walk, eat and all the other tricks .I used to stay awake in the past.
At the end of my 10-hour drive, I also had lots of energy left to visit with family.
On hearing of my experience both my sister and a dear friend have successfully used your anti-static device to eliminate their vehicles from shocking them. Additionally, as a passenger in their cars, I would have normally been very motion sick. This did not happen even when I rode in the backseat! (Wow, I wish we had used this when I was a kid.) My family is sold on the validity of the Mizter. It was such a simple and practical approach. Thanks for your innovative work.
Gratefully,"
