			Camping Setup/Rear Storage Setup

					Hi Guys,

Setting myself up for a Moreton trip sooooon and would love to see everyones camping setup and ho they manage to fit everything in the back "in it's right spot" so to speak.

I am looking at getting an Oz Tent RV1 as I only have me and the misus and I have the little 90 Puma and it is nice and compact for storing in the car. I didn't want a roof top tent as my main idea atm for camping is arriving at the destination, setting up and then using the Defender for day trips or 4wdriving. I didn't want to have the extra weight of the roof racks and tent on there while driving. So I'd thought I'd go a good quality quick canvas tent.

I will park the car right next to the tent when we are not driving to provide extra shade. On the other side of the tent, I have an oztrail quick gazebo, which will be for cooking and extra shade/extra leisure area.

Packing them in the car, I was thinking of removing the rear seat and having one on either side if they fit, I will measure it up tonight. I have an esky that fit perfectly behind the Cubby box, so withe tie downs there it's perfect. It also great to have so close when your driving, if you want to grab a quick drink.

I would love to see what everyone's ideas are?

 Cheers

I'm looking forward to others ideas as well as the Cook and I are leaning the same way....stop dragging 1.5 ton camper about and a quick set up for a camp.
We've already got a fair tent, an Oztrail Tourer or something, but need to get the actual sleeping gear sorted for max comfort and ease of set up.

The is pretty much the only way to fit all the stuff for a comfortable camping trip in a 90

After all any fool can be uncomfortable and the 90 have hardy any room in them. I found this after a trip to Fraser

					Hi Drew90,

My approach to camping is "nothing on the roof and no trailer". If it doesn't fit inside it doesn't go. We've been on month long camping/touring trips with a family of 4 (our kids are both teenagers) in our 110 and had everything we need, although about one night a week we take the soft option and stay in a motel so that we don't end up completely feral.

Under no circumstances do we stow anything forward of the 110's cargo barrier (which is behind the 2nd row of seating) so that space may be similar to a 90 with 2 people. Except for your rear seats.

As yet I haven't installed storage draws so we use tubs - a food tub, camping equipment tub and a tub of recovery gear. We also carry up to 60L of water in 10L & 20L containers depending on how long we'll be away from a water source. The tubs are visible in the bottom photo. I've done a few camping mods that I really like, both of which are visible in the photo.

 - A weather proof 12v power socket externally mounted on the rear of the car (green arrow). There's an isolation switch so that nobody can steal my electrons and flatten my battery when I'm parked in urban areas. Typical use for this is to run an LED light (5M lead) in the tent that I bought from Super Cheap Auto.

- Rear light (LED). It's an unobtrusive and puts out a good spread of bright light. Typically for setting up camp or cooking dinner. Also very useful when reversing in the pitch black. With a current draw of only 0.9A I can run it for days on end.

- Cargo barrier. With the family on board we load up to within 6 inches of the roof. As well as helping us to fit more in we regard this a a critical piece of safety equipment.

The power outlet and rear light each have a standard Puma style switch on the dash replacing two of the factory blanks.

BTW - We have quality camp stretchers. They don't need to be inflated, they don't get punctures, they keep us off the ground and they're comfortable. None of us wants to go back to inflatable mattresses. Due to the length of the stretchers we need a reasonably big tent - a 6 person tent when there's just two of us and a 10 person tent when we all go. This photo shows the 10 man tent and our old county. It too had the external power outlet & cargo barrier.

 Happy camping!

					Sorry Drew for the hyjack

We have used the OZ tent for many years, very quick to set up and roomy enough for us.

We have the self inflating FWD matteress a bit bulky but a much a better sleep if your airbed goes down, as they have bigger foam in them

small stove, billy and another saucepan is really all you need for basics, a tub of food and some water containers, simple realy, IHTH

OH and there is the resort on Moreton for a feed if you really want, for memory Sunday was smorgasbord night all you can eat
